Cub Scout Pack 59 and Boy Scout Troop 59
The First United Methodist Church in Mount Holly is the Chartered Organization who sponsors Cub Scout Pack 59 and Boy Scout Troop 59 in the Heartland District of the Piedmont Council.  The pack and troop have been a chartered unit in Mount Holly for over 50 years.  The pack has over 100 boys registered as cub scouts ranging in age from 5 to 10 years old.  Pack 59 is composed of six dens by age; Tiger (1st Grade), Wolf (2nd Grade), Bear (3rd Grade), Webelos (4th Grade), and Arrow of Light  (5th Grade).  This year the Piedmont Council approved the pack to create a Lion den for kindergarten age boys as part of a new pilot program.

The cub scouts in Pack 59 have many opportunities to learn new things and have fun in the process.  Each year the cub scouts work towards their next range by learning things like character development, the environment, and outdoor skills.  The pack also participates in service projects like Scouting for Food to help the boys learn about service to others while helping our local community.  The pack also has fun events like the annual Pinewood Derby race and several overnight camping trips.  The pack runs a year-round program with regular den meetings during the school year and a fun summertime program during summer vacation.
